A Scout is Friendly

One of the points of the Scout Law is a Scout is Friendly. I wanted though to delve in deeper and not just say "ok I am a Scout so I should be friendly." I wanted to find out why we should be friendly as Christians. In the Bible in Proverbs 18:24 it states "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." As Scouts we are all brothers and sisters in Scouting but, also as Christians we are the children of God. A Scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to other Scouts. He gives his friendship to all races, religions, and nations, and respects them. We need to realize that as Christians we should not be biased to others just because of their religion or what nation they come from! We need to show them the love of God. In 1 Corinthians 6:11 it says: "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. We are all sinners but we have been forgiven by Christ. So when we see someone who has sinned against us or is currently sinning we need to be friendly to them and show them God's love because such were some of us. God does not discriminate by religion, country, or race. Chaplain Tarantino says that "Everyone has a name and a story." When we meet someone we need to ask their name and their story show them the love of Christ. So in conclusion not just as Scouts but as Christians are we commanded to be friendly to those that we meet.
